Stay informed about events in and around Lake Tahoe. This week:
Local resorts hosts discounted lift tickets on Skiing for Schools Day to benefit the Excellence in Education Foundation. Royal Gorge Cross-Country and Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area will be hosting discount lift tickets from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5. Royal Gorge is offering $15 trail passes valid any one day with passes available for purchase starting a week in advance from Paco’s in Truckee or Alpenglow in Tahoe City only. (more)

Arcadia Publishing has released two new books featuring vintage photographs of the region – “Skiing at Lake Tahoe” by Mark McLaughlin and “Lake Tahoe: A Maritime History” by Peter Goin. “Skiing at Lake Tahoe” features more than 200 vintage images along with a narrative on skiing in the Lake Tahoe area from the 19th century to the present, including the opening of major resorts including Heavenly and Squaw Valley. As well, a set of postcards featuring images from the book also are available. (more)
