Our Policy
All of our ad rates include all production costs, which
means that we will take your instructions and do our
best to create an ad that meets your expectations.
We also take ads from agencies or professional
designers. We take “camera ready” art, but prefer that
ads be given to us on disk. We can scan any artwork
including fully built ads, but scanning an ad reduces
the crispness of the text and pictures contained within
that ad, which detracts from your work and the overall
look of the magazine.
Technical Requirements
We use InDesign CS for all of our ad building as well as
Adobe Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS. If you furnish a
finished ad, please send it as a PDF file. Be sure
to include all fonts and image files contained within
the ad if necessary. To insure accuracy, save all art as
CMYK (no spot colors), grayscale and/or minimum of 300
dpi as appropiate.
If you furnish a finished ad, we would like an EPS
version of the ad regardless of the creating program.
This ensures that your work will remain intact, as an
EPS cannot be easily manipulated. We will also accept a
PDF file.
Along with the EPS, we need all the fonts (both printer
and screen) contained in the ad in case we don’t have
them all. We also ask that you provide us with the
original document file and all the links so that in the
event that something goes wrong we can make any
necessary last-minute adjustments. We DO NOT open any
documents unless there is a problem with the EPS file
(such as not having all of the correct fonts). To insure
color accuracy, please be sure all art is saved in CMYK
(no spot colors, please).
In addition, we need a printed proof of the ad in order
to compare our print-outs with the original art. We will
also use a hard-copy proof as a final resort if we
cannot access a disk file or reach anyone who can
provide assistance.
